Following yesterday's shocking news that Daredevil had been cancelled by Netflix, executive producer and writer Sam Ernst revealed that an unrealized fourth season had been fully plotted out.Ernst, who wrote Season 3's twelfth episode and co-wrote the ninth episode with showrunner Erik Oleson, tweeted that the writers' room for the MCU series had already been laid out before the writers learned of the series' cancellation.RELATED: Netflix Canceling Marvel's Daredevil Is a Huge Mistake

This lines up with comments made by Oleson earlier this month, with the executive producer and showrunner revealing that a pitch for a potential fourth season had been submitted to Netflix; production was just awaiting word on a formal renewal.

While Marvel indicated there are future plans and projects for the character, it is unclear if this means a direct continuation of the acclaimed Netflix series on a new platform or if the unused plans for a Season 4 on Netflix will ever see the light of day.

Now available on Netflix, Marvel’s Daredevil Season 3 stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Joanne Whalley as Sister Maggie, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter, Jay Ali as Rahul “Ray” Nadeem, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk.
