A purported character description for the third season of Daredevil may offer the first clues to the arrival of another Marvel Comics supervillain in Hell's Kitchen.

That Hashtag Show contends that "Steve," a socially awkward FBI agent with a "hair-trigger temper," may actually be Stanley Carter, better known to longtime Marvel Comics readers as the original Sin-Eater. Here's the breakdown:

[STEVE] 28-35, 5’9-6’1, Open ethnicity. An athletic but socially awkward FBI Agent, needs structure and rules to suppress the darkness inside himself. Athletic with medium build, responsible and resourceful, hair trigger temper. SERIES REGULAR

In Marvel Comics lore, Carter was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who underwent an experiment to increase his strength and stamina, not unlike Will Simpson (aka Nuke) on the first season of Jessica Jones. The website notes Sin-Eater was introduced Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man #107, which raises the question of whether Marvel actually controls the rights to the character. However, Kingpin was also originally a Spider-Man villain, which could suggest Sin-Eater isn't necessarily off-limits.

Becoming violent, Carter resigned from S.H.I.E.L.D. and eventually became a detective in the New York Police Department. After his partner was killed in the line of duty, Carter adopted the identity of Sin-Eater and began to target anyone he believes has sinned.

The Defenders hinted that the third season of Daredevil could borrow elements from "Born Again," the seminal story arc in which Kingpin learns Matt Murdock's secret identity and systematically dismantles his life. If that's the case, Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk would obviously loom large in the new season, but it's certainly possible that Sin-Eater could play a secondary role (even though the villain doesn't appear in the original story).
