This is "How Can I Explain?", a feature that spotlights unexplained comic book plot points (unexplained in the comics themselves, of course, as quite often there are outside explanations, like "the artist made a mistake," etc.).

Today, we look at how Daredevil was left out in the cold in "DC vs. Marvel," to comedic effect.

In 1996, DC and Marvel jointly produced "DC vs. Marvel," a four-issue miniseries where the two companies crossed over and had its heroes fight each other in eleven matchups, six of which were predetermined and then five of which were voted on by fans (Batman vs. Captain America, Spider-Man vs. Superboy, Storm vs. Wonder Woman, Superman vs. Hulk and Wolverine vs. Lobo).

The interesting thing is that Daredevil doesn't get to match up with any DC hero. He does get to beat up Riddler in the first issue, at least...

Heck, even during Amalgam, Daredevil got one of the odder mash-ups, as he was mashed up with Deathstroke the Terminator and then turned female (to be paired with a mashed-up Catwoman/Elektra in "Assassins")....

But the killer bit, and the real reason for this post, is this awesome spread by Dan Jurgens and Joe Rubinstein from "DC vs. Marvel" #3, which has Jubilee writing in her diary about the crazy events of the series so far (that is why Jubilee's face is featured so prominently, as it is she who is writing it all down)....

Notice how everyone is paired off (not counting Jubilee, who's telling the story)....except Daredevil for no reason!

How hilarious is that? Most likely Jurgens just forgot to draw someone to go with Daredevil, but it's still pretty funny to instead imagine that just no one from the DC Universe was willing to pair up with him. Hopefully no one tried to tell the blind guy that "Oh, no, Nightwing is right by you, trust us."

Maybe he's teamed up with Atom, and we just can't see him! Maybe Deadman has possessed him!
