The show proved that a sense of heroism and hope could still exist in a show that dealt with the grittiness and dark side of superheroes. What truly elevated the show was Charlie Cox's performance as Daredevil and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin, as those two characters defined the whole series.

Daredevil is famous for its single shot, long-form fight sequences. The one that started it all was in season one and most fans refer to it as the "hallway" scene. This was a scene of beautiful fight choreography and cinematography that gave fans some of the best minutes of television ever. The series, and others, were constantly trying to live up to the standard set by its action and fluidity. The Kingpin had a magnificent debut in Daredevil. Vincent D'Onofrio brought the legendary villain to life like no actor previously had. He brought gravitas, intimidation and elegance to the role of the violent crime lord. The scene that solidified his power and intensity is when he used a car door to end the life of a lieutenant who failed him. The scene was dark, powerful and gruesome. It proved to audiences that this Kingpin wasn't going to sit on the sidelines, he was more than willing to deal with his problems in person. This action sequence set the tone for the whole character.

It's hard to boil down the dynamic of these two characters to a single moment. Their whole relationship was a driving force for the show. The performances by D'Onofrio and Cox were so powerful and emotional that when they interacted it was absolutely captivating. It is one of the best hero/villain relationships that has been portrayed on screen, whether in movies or tv. Although all their moments are incredible, some fans argue that their final interaction in season 3 stands out above all the rest.

7 Daredevil And The Punisher Talking

While all the fights in the show were amazingly well done, the interpersonal relationships were equally as well done. The Punisher and Daredevil had instant chemistry when Frank Castle was introduced in season two. The defining moment for them is when Matt was chained to the roof and Frank debated morality with him, demanding for Matt to prove that Daredevil's way was better than his own. The scene raises and deals with questions that fans have argued over for years. Would it be better for the heroes to kill the villains? Or would it blur the lines too much, leading to the kind of bloodshed the Punisher is often associated with?

6 Daredevil's Stairwell Fight

Just like the "hallway" scene in season one, the "stairwell" fight was a defining moment for the second season of the show. After his conversation with Frank, Daredevil is forced to fight his way through waves of gang members who have come for the Punisher in an attempt at revenge.

5 Frank Castle's Prison Battle

Another outstanding moment in the second season was when Frank Castle fought his way through the prison, putting an end to anyone who got in his way. It was vicious, bloody and was exactly what comic book fans wanted to see from The Punisher. This scene helped to set the standard for what viewers wanted from this character going forward. It was also just thrilling television, spectacularly written, filmed and choreographed.

Bullseye is one of Daredevil's biggest adversaries in the comics. When he joined the cast of season three, fans were very excited. Wilson Bethel was terrifying in the role and his performance brought the fear that accompanies Bullseye in the comics. The scenes in the police station and in the church helped define the relationship between the hero and villain and improved both of their characters. The scenes were full of drama, fear and intensity that helped make each moment jump off the screen and really capture the viewer's attention.

3 Matt's Religious Confusion

Matt Murdock is a deeply conflicted Catholic in the comics, and season three of the show really brought this aspect of his personality to the forefront. He constantly struggles with his relationship with his God and his violent conflict with crime in his city. Is he truly doing the right thing? Or is he simply hiding his violent tendencies behind honorable intentions? Seeing Matt battle with his inner demons and how his thoughts on the Church and himself make his character deeper and more compelling.

2 Matt Confronting Kingpin And Fighting His Way Out Of Prison

Each season needs a defining Daredevil battle and season three was no different. After confronting Kingpin in jail and being drugged, Matt has to fight his way out of the prison or die trying. This is another amazing fight scene, which fans loved just as much as the first two. The visceral and heavy hitting battles rival even some of the on screen MCU fights. This scene, like its predecessors, became a pivotal scene for the season and reaffirmed the tone and expectations for the show.

1 Frank Castle's Emotional Journey

Frank Castle aka The Punisher is a deadly vigilante, and that is all a lot of people know about him. Daredevil was able to start to show a different side to the character. It showed the emotional torment he went through when he lost his family. How he was a victim of government corruption and a failed system. His emotional journey helped to make his character more than a killing machine and quickly made him a fan favourite.
