Actor Ralph Macchio claimed future seasons of Cobra Kai will continue to deliver opportunities for his character, Daniel LaRusso.

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Macchio revealed he was optimistic about the future of the franchise. Though he also admitted he was nervously awaiting the green light for Cobra Kai Season 6's production, the actor reported Season 5 was well-received by audiences and that he remained hopeful the show's performance will carry it through. Regarding his character Daniel's role in Cobra Kai's latest season, Macchio said, "He once again became the protagonist that everyone was rallying around, like when he was a teenager. Now he's got a daughter getting ready for college, and his son is in the midst of high school, and maybe this karate war behind him."

Macchio additionally hinted Cobra Kai had more in store for longtime fans of the Karate Kid franchise. "But as always the case with Cobra Kai -- our karate soap opera -- one door closes, and another opens," the actor explained. "Just as long as it's grounded in the truth of the characters. I think that's always what our creators of the show are really mindful about and it's comfort food for people around the world. It's like a great cheeseburger you eat as a kid and you get to have it again."

Actor Alicia Hannah-Kim, who played Season 5 antagonist Kim Da-Eun, shared her costar's faith in Cobra Kai. While the Cobra Kai dojo was defeated in the season finale, Hannah-Kim hinted some of its followers might still resurface in the future, with the actor comparing Da-Eun to an unlocked "Pandora's box." Hannah-Kim further claimed Cobra Kai's new sensei gave the show a sinister undertone, which she believed provided plenty of material to explore in subsequent storylines.
