Rey proved herself capable, if not exactly graceful, with a lightsaber in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," where she fended off Kylo Ren even as Starkiller Base fell apart around them. However, "Episode VIII" will undoubtedly hold even greater challenges for the young heroine as she trains with Luke Skywalker and prepares for whatever the First Order throws at the Resistance.

To that end, star Daisy Ridley is undergoing some lightsaber training of her own with stuntman Liang Yang, who helped to coordinate the fight sequences in "The Force Awakens" (he also played Stormtrooper FN-2199 -- "Traitor!" -- in the film).

In a brief video posted on her Facebook page, Ridley shows off part of her routine as she twirls and swings a lightsaber-size wooden baton. You can see Yang at the very end. "So @liangstunts (TRAITOR) is WUSHU FRICKING MASTER," she writes, "and I always try to get him to teach me things... This was today!!! Obvs not great but HE'S amazing."

Directed by Rian Johnson, "Star Wars: Episode VIII" opens Dec. 15, 2017.
