In a behind-the-scenes featurette for The CW's Arrowverse crossover, two of "Crisis on Infinite Earths'" Supermen -- Brandon Routh and Tyler Hoechlin -- shared their thoughts on the Man of Steel's long-enduring significance and what he means to them.

"I think what makes Superman such a great hero at his core is that he shows us the best that is within us," Routh said, accompanied by a clip of his Kingdom Come-inspired Earth-96 Superman telling Elizabeth Tulloch's Lois Lane about his promise "to keep fighting, no matter what."

"Clark just sees himself as someone who does what he can with the abilities that he has," Hoechlin added, with his comments preceded by a clip of his Superman catching Lois during the battle with John Deegan from last year's "Elseworlds" crossover.

"Even if Superman didn't have all of his abilities, he would still have all of the great characteristics that make him caring and about humanity," Routh continued. "I think he's a shining example of what we can hope to be as human beings, that's certainly what I try and learn from him and his example every day."

To further Routh's comments was another clip from the same scene, where his Superman proudly declares that "Hope is the light that lifts us out of darkness" to close out the video.
