"Something big's on its way," warns John Constantine in the opening seconds of this new first look at his upcoming television series. NBC -- as well as fans of the British exorcist, demonologist and master of the dark arts -- would like for the "something big" to be the horror drama, set to debut later this month. "Constantine" marks the character's return to live action following a 2005 film of the same name starring Keanu Reeves as an Americanized version of the character.

This sneak peek at the series indicates -- much like all the footage screened so far -- that the NBC's "Constantine" will be more faithful to the DC Comics source material than the movie. Interviews with series star Matt Ryan and executive producers David Goyer and Daniel Cerone are included, alongside behind the scenes footage and plenty of shots showing off the series' impressive use of special effects. But the heart of the character has not been lost in translation. "John Constantine is a con artist with a wicked sense of humor and a dry wit," says series star Matt Ryan.

"Constantine" stars Matt Ryan, Michael James Shaw, Emmett J. Scanlan, Harold Perrineau, Charles Halford and Angelica Celaya. "Constantine" premieres Friday, Oct. 24 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC with a pilot episode directed by Neill Marshall.
