SUPER BOWL TRAILER MADNESSMany major new trailers hit the airwaves yesterday for the Super Bowl -- but here are the three most major: "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"; "Amazing Spider-Man 2"; and "Transformers: Age of Extinction."

BATMAN/SUPERMANHowever, before any of those trailers even aired, the biggest news of the weekend was the announcement of Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons joining the cast of the "Man of Steel" sequel. Eisenberg has been cast as Lex Luthor, while Irons will play Alfred.

Comic Book Movie has posted an excerpt from Empire Magazine's print interview with Bryan Singer, who discussed his time directing "Superman Returns" and what he thought of "Man of Steel."

"I think Henry Cavill is great. I knew Henry. He and I were friends years ago. Oddly enough, the reason I didn't cast him was because I was making a sequel to Christopher Reeve and I wanted somebody who embodied Reeve more. ... I am in awe of the world building and the scope of that picture. It's tough for me. I'm not a critic and it starts to get into a weird thing where one director is talking about another director. I know how hard it is to make a movie, especially one of these movies and especially a Superman movie, and there was so much I was impressed with in that movie. There were things I might have done a little differently just because of the way I view the character. Don't misinterpret that as me not liking something. It's not 'Bryan Singer's review of Man Of Steel'!"

Opens May 6, 2016

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIERIn addition to the trailer, Marvel has released eight new photos of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" that give particularly close looks at Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier and Cobie Smulders as S.H.I.E.L.D. deputy director Maria Hill.

Opens April 4.

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.IGN spoke with Stan Lee in anticipation of his cameo in the upcoming "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." episode, "T.R.A.C.K.S."

"I play a guy sitting on a train, and I see Agent Coulson arguing with Elizabeth Henstridge [Agent Simmons]. I don't realize that they're putting on an act for some reason that has to do with this story, but I get very upset about the way he's talking to her -- and I'm sitting with a couple of young ladies," Lee told IGN. "I don't know who they are or why I'm sitting with them, but they were attractive, so I was very happy to do it. So I get up, and I bring the two young ladies with me, and I walk over, and I give Agent Coulson a little tongue-lashing for the way he's been talking to her -- and that's my role! I can't wait to see it when it comes out."

SON OF BATMANWatchtower of Babel News has posted the first look at the upcoming "Son of Batman" DC Comics animated feature.

JUSTICE LEAGUE: WARSpeaking of DC animated movies, CBR's Albert Ching attended the debut of "Justice League: War" at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills, where producer James Tucker hinted at a new continuity for the animated features.

"This will definitely be the first salvo in doing new movies that are in continuity with each other," Tucker told CBR News. "Our next movie's going to be 'Son of Batman,' and that Batman will be the same Batman that you see in 'Justice League: War.' Basically, we'll have two concurrent series of Justice League movies and Batman movies, and they'll be in continuity with each other. So it's kind of world-building."

Releases on DVD/Blu-ray February 4
