COMIC REEL: Possible “Civil War” Promo Art Emerges; Suicide Squad Hits Set In New Photos

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

Latino Review’s Umberto Gonzalez has posted another rumor to his Instagram page, this time featuring possible concept art for “Captain America: Civil War.” This art has not been officially released and could be fan art, or it could be a sneak peek at the major Marvel movie a year before its release.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Now that the dust has settled on “Age of Ultron’s” first weekend, we have a final tally of the film’s massive box office haul. The “Avengers” sequel earned $187.7 in its opening weekend, making it the second biggest opening weekend of all time. The first “Avengers” film remains the opening weekend champion with $207.4 million.

Now that millions of moviegoers have met Paul Bettany’s character Vision, USA Today spoke with the actor about what it was like joining the cast on set.

“It’s lovely to finally be on set with these guys you’ve been working with but never actually met,” said Bettany with a laugh. “Personally, I always felt that J.A.R.V.I.S. was rather misunderstood. Playing the Vision has given me an opportunity to push back the prejudices surrounding artificial intelligence. To actually see him with a physical body and enjoying life is very important for the artificially intelligent community.”

Scarlett Johansson hosted “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend. The episode included a trailer parody sketch for “Black Widow: Age of Me,” a romcom starring Natasha Romanoff.

FANTASTIC FOUR

Following news that “Fantastic Four” director Josh Trank had parted ways with the upcoming “Star Wars” anthology film he was attached to direct, the Hollywood Reporter has heard from an inside source that problems on the Fox/Marvel movie led to his ousting.

The report states that “FF’s” producers faced “great challenges pulling the film together” due to, as one insider put it, “erratic” and at times “very isolated” behavior. Because of this, producers Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker played a greater hand in shaping the film, although Trank was still on set and directing the film as per Directors Guild rules. A Fox spokesperson added that the studio is still “very happy with the movie and we can’t wait for audiences to see it” despite the fact that “there were definitely some bumps in the road.”

SPIDER-MAN

The list of frontrunners for the role of Spider-Man has been narrowed down to two, according to Collider and Devin Faraci. The two actors are 18 year olds Tom Holland and Asa Butterfield; the latter was previously mentioned as Marvel’s lead choice, but now Holland is apparently in the running. While this hasn’t been confirmed yet, Spider-Man is most likely set to debut in “Captain America: Civil War”; Collider notes that the character’s scenes don’t shoot until June.
