BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
Batman and Superman are brawling their way to huge box office returns this weekend, and as fans finally get their long-anticipated look at the DC Comics’ titans squaring off on the big screen, one of the artists that helped bring that vision to life is giving those fans a peek behind the process.
Concept artist Victor Martinez, who worked with “Batman v Superman” Production Designer Patrick Tatopoulos on Zack Synder‘s battle royale, shared some of his early sketches for the film on Facebook, including images of both Bats and Supes surveying moody urban landscapes.
Tyrese Gibson isn’t done talking about speculation that ties him to playing DC Comics’ interstellar cop Green Lantern just yet, and he says that while he has not yet discussed the part with “Justice League” director Zack Synder, he has met with Warner Bros., and believes he has “a shot.”
In an interview with Larry King, the actor discussed the way he came to be associated with the character, and how fan art and excitement led to some mix-ups, and even tensions with execs at Warner Bros.
“You know how they have fan-made things online? A fan did this image of me as Green Lantern,” Gibson told King. “I was like ‘Whoa, that looks cool’ and I posted it on my Instagram, and it just went crazy. Over 1,500 sites [covered the story], and it was just all this buzz. So I was like ‘I might as well just run with this thing,’ and I did.
“[It] pissed the people off a little bit at Warner Bros. a little bit, because they thought that I had convinced the world that I’d landed the role — which I didn’t. I said ‘If you go down my timeline, at no point did I say the role is mine.’ But, you know, there have been other artists, actors, and actresses, who have put up images of them as a comic book character and ended up landing a role. So I was like — it’s worth giving it a shot.”
Gibson went on to tell King that he still believes he is in the running to play the ring-powered superhero.

It’s a big week for the Girl of Steel, with the Scarlet Speeder racing into town on this week’s “Supergirl“/”The Flash” crossover episode. To bring fans that haven’t been keeping up with Kara’s weekly adventures up to speed, CBS has released a handy featurette detailing the Kryptonian cousin’s origins and a season summer. Watch the “Supergirl Saga” video below.
The Flash isn’t the only super-powered visitor in National City this week, as the crossover episode sees a team-up between villains Livewire and Banshee. CBS has also released a behind-the-scenes video that explores the dynamic between the “evil Taylor Swift-squad” that’s looking for trouble, which you can watch below.
“Supergirl” was not among a slew of CBS shows announced yesterday as having been officially renewed for a second season, but given remarks from executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg citing their plans for the show next year, and the promise from CBS CEO Les Moonves that all five of the network’s new programs would be coming back, it appears to be a mere formality.
A host of new pictures from “Myriad,” another upcoming episode of “Supergirl,” set to air April 11, were released yesterday.
If any fans were harboring concerns that AMC‘s “Preacher” would fail to faithfully represent of the comic series’ most recognizable characters, their worries were laid to rest Friday, when the show released the first official look at Ian Colletti as Eugene Root, A.K.A. Arseface. Cast and crew were on hand during LA’s WonderCon 2016, where they screened the pilot for fans and answered questions, and following the panel the show released the first featured image of the visually distinct character.
