MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE

During an appearance at Emerald City Comicon, Marvel's VP of Animation Development and Production Cort Lane revealed that there may be animated projects being created to tie-in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"I can't announce anything, but things are in the works," said Lane, as transcribed in a panel report on Newsarama. Lane cited the upcoming Netflix shows as an example of other projects that tie in with the feature films.

DAREDEVIL

Another pair of new TV spots have been released for "Daredevil."

Nylon has a profile on Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page. The actress talked about her character, who has been characterized as a stereotypical lovestruck '60s gal and a heroin addicted adult film star. "There's this old idea that women in men's stories are either Madonnas or whores, and she is both, but at different times," said Woll. "What I ended up doing, and what Marvel was trying to do, was to merge those two. She doesn't have to be a Madonna or a whore -- she can be good and bad all at once, which is more modern."

Collider has a talk with showrunner Steven S. DeKnight wherein the writer reveals that "Daredevil" will have more than its fair share of Easter eggs.

"There are a ton of Easter eggs in this series," said DeKnight. "Some will be very obvious -- a reference to the Battle of New York -- and there are Easter eggs that are so obscure that I didn't know what they were. Often times we need a sign in the background, and we always try to use those opportunities to dig into the Marvel universe, so Megan Thomas Brander, one of our Marvel people, we would send that over to her and say, 'Hey, we need a sign out here. What do we got that would be good?' And she'd send back a list of like ten and I'd look at those, and I've read comics all my life, and I look at those and go, 'I don't recognize any of these!' So there are some Easter eggs that are really for the hardcore fans and there are some that other people will recognize."

DeKnight also revealed that since "Daredevil" was the first Marvel Netflix show, it won't have any forward-facing ties to future series like "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" and "Luke Cage." He did mention that he thinks it's likely that those shows will feature callbacks to "Daredevil," though.
