All throughout July, I will be sharing with you three comic book "easter eggs" a day. An easter egg is a joke/visual gag/in-joke that a comic book creator (typically the artist) has hidden in the pages of the comic for readers to find (just like an easter egg). They range from the not-so-obscure to the really obscure. So come check 'em all out and enjoy! Also, click here for an archive of all the easter eggs featured so far!

Today, all three easter eggs are connected to Mystery Science Theater 3000! If you don't know anything about that show, then you might want to skip this installment, as none of it will make sense to you!

Brian H. and Matt L. suggested a moment from Gen13/Monkeyman and O'Brien #1 by Art Adams. Here's Matt describing the following page...

Their dialog (in which Dr. F complains about unfairness of it all, seeing as they did it first) seems to be referencing the second half of the issue which is an extended reference/play on the famous Mirror Mirror episode of Star Trek. Dr F is complaining because MST3k did a Mirror Mirror inspired episode a few years earlier (the host segments of which can be seen here). Interestingly, I only remembered the MST3k stuff and only realized the Star Trek easter egg when I pulled out the issue for this e-mail. Which makes the whole easter egg deal much more multilevel than I'd thought.

Matt. L also suggested this page from Transformers: Generation Two #9, by Manny Galan...

Brian H. suggested this bit from the first Jonni Future story in Tom Strong's Terrific Tales #1, where Art Adams sneaks in another MST3K cameo...

Thanks, guys!

There's only a few days left, but feel free to still make suggestions (via e-mail at bcronin@comicbookresources.com)! I very well could still pick one of your suggestions still!
