Every week, I will be sharing with you three comic book "easter eggs." An easter egg is a joke/visual gag/in-joke that a comic book creator (typically the artist) has hidden in the pages of the comic for readers to find (just like an easter egg). They range from the not-so-obscure to the really obscure. So come check 'em all out and enjoy! Also, click here for an archive of all the easter eggs featured so far! If you want to suggest an easter egg for a future column, e-mail me at bcronin@comicbookresources.com (do not post your suggestion in the comments section!).

Commenter Jen recommended that I use the "Homages" section on Elquest.com (which you can check out here) to spotlight a handful of cameos of Richard and Wendy Pini's Elfquest comics in various comic books!

Enjoy!

First up, we have DC Comics Presents #52 (Superman teams up with the Doom Patrol to fight Ambush Bug), where Keith Giffen sneaks in a Skywise blimp...

Next is Elven #0, where there is an issue...

that is clearly meant to be Elfquest: New Blood #12...

Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld #12 also features an issue of Elfquest (it is on the very bottom of the page)...

Finally, in Uncanny X-Men #153, Kitty Pryde shows off her taste in comics with an Elfquest T-Shirt...

As reader Branko notes:

Bamf (i.e. Nightcrawler) is seen with a Preserver (ElfQuest butterfly-like creatures) who Bamf refers to as Pini. Also – the Pini says “Bigthings”

Obviously, there are other Elfquest nods (including some mentioned at the above link). I'll be sure to get to them in the future!
