All throughout July, I will be sharing with you three comic book "easter eggs" a day. An easter egg is an in-joke that a comic book creator (typically the artist) has hidden in the pages of the comic for readers to find (just like an easter egg). They range from the not-so-obscure to the really obscure. So come check 'em all out and enjoy! Also, click here for an archive of all the easter eggs featured so far!

The Issue That Keeps on Giving

Yesterday, we saw how WildCATS #8 had an appearance by Scott Summers and Jean Grey while on their honeymoon. However, earlier in the issue, there were not one, but TWO other cross-company cameos!

Check it out....

You have Clark and Lois, but you also have middle-aged Beavis and Butthead in the background! I'm sure the other characters have some meaning, as well, but I don't know what. Anyone?

I was planning on featuring this one today no matter what, but I will note that commenter Drunken Fist mentioned it in the comments to yesterday's piece.

A Precursor of Things to Come

In 1989's Punisher #18, Whilce Portacio has the X-Men show up on page 1. Perhaps Portacio was serving notice that he'd like a crack at the famous mutants? In 1991, he got the chance, as he drew and plotted Uncanny X-Men (before that, he also had a stint on X-Factor)...

Thanks to Jeff Ryan for the suggestion! E-mail your suggestions though, Jeff!

The Easter Egg That Challenges You

In Hulk: Future Imperfect #1, George Perez hid Waldo, of Where's Waldo? fame, somewhere in this double-page spread. See if you can find him!

Thanks to Jeff Ryan again!

If you can think of an easter egg/in-joke that you would like to see me feature, drop me a line at bcronin@comicbookresources.com! DON'T make suggestions in the comments section, so as to not spoil the surprise for when I end up actually featuring your suggestion. Remember, Jeff Ryan, E-MAIL!
