All throughout July, I will be sharing with you three comic book "easter eggs" a day. An easter egg is an in-joke that a comic book creator (typically the artist) has hidden in the pages of the comic for readers to find (just like an easter egg). They range from the not-so-obscure to the really obscure. So come check 'em all out and enjoy! Also, click here for an archive of all the easter eggs featured so far!

A Pair of Funkadelic Cameos

In the last issue of Super-Villain Team-Up, Peter Gillis introduces us to an AIM scientist named Clinton...George Clinton...

Later in the issue, we meet a SHIELD agent named William Collins...

To make things even plainer, Collins leads the "Bootsy squad" into battle...

Here is George Clinton and William "Bootsy" Collins together in their famous band, Parliament-Funkadelic...

Thanks to Jason Atomic for the suggestion. Jason wondered if there was anything more to it than Peter Gillis showing his love for P-Funk. I asked Gillis, and he said that nope, that was basically the gist of it. Gillis mentioned, though, that he worked a third member of Parliament-Funkadelic into another comic book he wrote around that time (early 1980s). Can any of you eagle-eyed fans out there name the member and the issue?

Another Wonder-ful Cameo

I've already showed you one Easter Egg from Gail Simone's Wonder Woman run where she named a DMA agent after a real life person, and here, in Wonder Woman #26, Simone does it again....

Here's the real life Mike D’Alessio with "Wonder Woman"....

Thanks to Martin Gray for the suggestion! And for quickly apologizing when he forgot to e-mail it to me!

Good ol' What's-his-name?

In Superman/Batman Annual #1, Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne are attacked by Deathstroke as well as the Crime Syndicate. However, since the evil versions of Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne are both there, how about the GOOD version of Deathstroke? Yep, it's just who you guessed (and someone the writer of the issue, Joe Kelly, is quite familiar with)...

A funny gag throughout the issue is the fact that he can never say his name before someone incapacitates him...

Thanks to sylar wesker for the suggestion!
