Comedy Central Seals Deal to Take South Park Through Season 20

Comedy Central has renewed the popular, and occasionally controversial, South Park for three more seasons, taking the Emmy-winning animated series through 2016 and its 20th season.

Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will continue to write, direct and edit every episode, as they have since the show’s premiere on Aug. 13, 1997. They also voice most of the male characters.

“The collective genius of Matt and Trey knows no bounds,” Comedy Central President Michele Ganeless said in a statement. “Week after week and season after season they continue to surprise and delight South Park fans, and that includes all of us here at Comedy Central. We’re thrilled that the adventures of Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman will continue through 2016.”

South Park‘s Season 15 finale airs tonight at 10 ET/PT on Comedy Central.
