In Marvel Comics lore, Magik, aka Ilyana Rasputin, is indeed the younger sister of Colossus, so it will be interesting to see if New Mutants includes a nod to the X-Man, or even a cameo. A mutant who can teleport herself and others through time and space by way of Limbo, Magik also became sorcerer supreme of that dimension.

Directed by Josh Boone (The Fault In Our Stars), the film is reportedly based on “The Demon Bear Saga,” the influential 1984 Marvel Comics storyline in which the teenage students of Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters are isolated from the world, and their mentors, by a freak snowstorm, and must band together to save their teammate Danielle Moonstar, and themselves, from the enormous demonic bear that killed her parents.

In addition to Wolfsbane and Magik, the film is expected to feature classic New Mutants characters Moonstar, Cannonball, Sunspot and Warlock. New Mutants is targeted to begin filming this summer in Montreal for a release on April 13, 2018.
