Cloak & Dagger Season 2 will pick up after a major time jump. According to Cloak actor Aubrey Joseph, the Freeform series' sophomore season begins eight months after Season 1 ended.

"With Season 1, we literally watched them figure out how to maneuver with these powers. So Season 2, from the jump, you see them become these badass superheroes, you know?" Joseph explained during a set visit attended by CBR. "It still takes time, obviously. They're young and they are still learning, but -- specifically for Ty -- eight months in a church by yourself, it's a lot of time on your hands to practice your powers, obviously. So I think it will be worth the wait, to see that."

Of course, Season 1 ended on a down note for Ty. As an act of revenge for getting him arrested, Detective Connors framed Ty for Officer Fuchs' murder. This sent Ty on the run from the cops, who believed he had killed one of their own. Ty eventually got Connors back; in the finale, he swallowed Connors in his cloak -- but that also prevented him from clearing Ty's name. Now, Ty has more or less swapped places with Tandy, living as a fugitive in an abandoned church.

Per Joseph's comment, Ty will still be living in that abandoned church eight months later. Even so, he will be struggling to adjust to his new life on the run when Season 2 picks up.

"It's weird for Ty," Joseph admitted. "Obviously, his relationship that he had with his parents in Season 1 was kind of tarnished by Billy's death and everything that they'd been through, but he still felt that shelter, like he can come home and there will be dinner on the table no matter what. Even though maybe his mom and him may not have a conversation, they may not be as close as they were, he still knows that she's going to fold his clothes, she's going to wash his clothes for him, wash the dishes, you know, things like that that he kind of has to take care of himself at this point, and it's lonely for him. It kind of feels like he's going insane at this point, you know what I mean?"

"I think that just brings a different aspect to the show, too, because you see Tyrone kind of out of his element the first episode, which is different for us to see," he added. "Tyrone is someone who tries to have everything together and tries to be perfect. So it's funny that, even though he's living in the church, all his clothes are folded and everything is neatly put into place. But yeah, Ty -- it's been crazy for him, not being able to see his parents. So I feel like that teaches him a lot about himself as well."

Returning Thursday, April 4 on Freeform, Cloak & Dagger stars Olivia Holt as Tandy Bowen/Dagger and Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson/Cloak, as well as Emma Lahana as Brigid O'Reilly/Mayhem, Andrea Roth as Tandy’s mother Melissa Bowen, Gloria Reuben as Tyrone’s mother Adina Johnson, Miles Mussenden as Tyrone’s father Michael Johnson, Carl Lundstedt as Liam, James Saito as Dr. Bernard Sanjo and J.D.
