Much has been made about the superhero rift that factors into "Captain America: Civil War," but other than the conflict between Cap and Iron Man's faction of heroes, very little has been revealed about the role actual super villains will play in the movie. Speaking with Business Insider UK, actor Daniel Bruhl gave a few new bits of information regarding the version of Baron Zemo that he will play in "Civil War" -- and comic book fans might be a little disappointed.

"He does not wear the mask," said Bruhl when asked about Zemo's iconic purple mask. The development is a bit of a shock considering how essential the mask has been to every depiction of every version of Baron Zemo over the years. Heinrich Zemo even had Adhesive X glue the mask to his face, preventing him from ever removing it. But this apparently isn't the only change coming to the classic Captain America foe.

"You would be surprised, it's different than what you'd think," said Bruhl. "It's loosely connected to this character. But that's what I like about the Marvel guys, some of the characters and things they're dealing with always reference to current events so my character is from a different area than you would think."

"Captain America: Civil War" opens on May 6, 2016.
