Appearing last night on The Tonight Show, Chuck star Zachary Levi confirmed he'll play Fandral in the sequel to Marvel's Thor.

"I can actually say it now," he told host Jay Leno when questioned about his new facial hair, "I'm going to be in Thor 2. The guy, Josh Dallas, who played Fandral the Dashing in the first one -- he has a conflict with the television show he's doing, and I get to jump in there and play the role."

It was revealed last month that Marvel was eyeing Levi to replace Dallas, who is unable to return because of his commitment to Once Upon a Time, which ABC renewed for a second season. Production of the fairy-tale drama, on which Dallas plays Prince Charming, is expected to begin this month in Vancouver.

Levi is no stranger to the Warriors Three -- or to scheduling conflicts: He was originally in talks to play Fandral in Thor but had to drop out after NBC gave his cult action-comedy Chuck a last-minute pickup for a fourth season.

Production of Thor 2 is expected to begin in July, with Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor joined by returning stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins and Idris Elba (presumably the other two-thirds of the Warriors Three, Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano, appear as well). Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) is in talks to play an unnamed villain.

Thor 2 opens Nov. 8, 2013.
