Christoph Waltz is getting back to what he does best: playing bad guys. Variety reports the star of Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained star play the villain in Warner Bros.' upcoming adaptation of Tarzan.

David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows) signed on to direct the film in November and was soon joined by star Alexander Skarsgard, who will play Tarzan. At one point, Jessica Chastain was said to be in talks for the role of Jane, but she's apparently out of the picture now. Variety contends Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man) and Margot Robbie (Focus) are being eyed for the character.

The film, based on the book by Edgar Rice Burroughs, was most recently rewritten by Adam Cozad, who also penned Jack Ryan: Shadow One. Tarzan has yet to score a green light from Warner Bros. yet, but it's expected to get one this fall and start production next summer.
