Chris Cooper has been cast as Norman Osborn in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2"

Marc Webb's "Amazing Spider-Man 2" looks to become a veritable cornucopia of Spider-Man villains. In addition to Jamie Foxx as Electro and Paul Giamatti rumored to be playing the Rhino, Chris Cooper has been cast as longtime Spider-Man nemesis Norman Osborn in the "Amazing Spider-Man" sequel. It's unspecified as to whether Cooper will suit up as Osborn's high-flying alter-ego, the Green Goblin -- but the inclusion of Norman Osborn isn't much of a surprise considering Dane DeHaan has already been cast as Harry Osborn, Norman's son.

It's unknown to what capacity Webb intends to include Osborn in the sequel, but the character is likely a third antagonist for Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man, lending credence to the theory of Webb assembling his own cinematic version of the Sinister Six. Actor Colm Feore was announced as a cast member in a recent press release, and many speculated Feore was cast as Osborn. It's possible that Feroe's unspecified role may be yet another villain to add to the Amazing Spider-Man's rogues gallery. Whatever the number of villains included in the film, it's a bold move by Webb to include three at minimum in the film, which would tie the number of villains showcased in "Spider-Man 3."

Cooper joins "Amazing Spider-Man" cast alums Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Sally Field as well as newcomers Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore and Shailene Woodley. The film is set to release May 2, 2014.
