Director Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past is based on one of the most famous stories from Chris Claremont's legendary X-Men run, and the writer told MTV Geek he's been asked to provide some degree of consultation on the 2014 film.

"I’ve been asked to kind of, maybe be around for a little consultation," Claremont told the website. "I won’t have a lot of input at all, but it’s nice that they asked."

Claremont -- who in the same article said he "loved" this summer's The Wolverine, despite expressing disappointment with the third act last month in a Vulture interview -- said that, no matter his level of involvement, he's excited to see the film.

"I’m looking forward to seeing it on screen," Claremont said. "It was fun to write, and fun to see what John Byrne and Terry Austin did, and now we get to see what it’s like on the big screen. So it will be fun."

The writer is also more than open to another on-screen cameo (he was seen mowing a lawn in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand), saying to MTV Geek, "I wish they would ask. I would love it. It would be cool."
