Tomorrow’s the day! It’s finally here!
Saturday, May 1 marks the 2010 edition of Free Comic Book Day, a national promotion supported by Diamond Comic Distributors and countless retailers nationwide who open their doors and hand out scads of completely free funny books to the masses, unofficially kicking off the summer. And whether you’re a comics vet excited at nabbing an exclusive new issue from your favorite publisher or a FCBD virgin looking for their first taste of the comics medium, CBR is here to help you make the best of your Saturday.
For starters, if you’re not sure where to go to find free comics, head on over to our handy dandy Comic Shop Locator where the mere typing of your zip code will lead you to your nearest local comic shop. And if you’ve already got plans to head to one shop, why not look up two? Each store will doubtlessly be offering its own FCBD atmosphere, and hey…more stores means more comics!
If you’re having trouble deciding which shop to hit on a limited schedule, head on over to CBR’s Event Calendar where you can see if any of your local stores are holding special promotions or check out our Robot 6 blog where the staff has assembled a killer lineup of creator signings, guest appearances, cookouts and concerts from coast to coast!
And when your personal time in the comic shop has ended, that doesn’t mean the fun is over! Be sure to stop back by CBR all weekend for Free Comic Book Day news and views as our staff (and a host of comics professionals) report the day’s events on our CBR Live! blog, or swing by the CBR Community Forums to talk up what you did, what you got and what you saw!
But before the day begins, feel free to make a plan for what books you want to get. Below, we’re happy to present 18 comic previews of new books that will be available across the country on Free Comic Book Day. And of course, you can always find more info on the event’s official site.
See you tomorrow!
