Robert Louis Stevenson's classic split-personality tale of Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde is again heading to the big screen, this time in an adaptation of an upcoming Dark Horse comic.

Cole Haddon's The Strange Case of Hyde, which will be unveiled this week at Comic-Con International in San Diego, is described as a new take on the 1886 novella that depicts Mr. Hyde as an anti-hero who battles a historical villain.

David Ellison's Skydance Productions, Dark Horse Entertainment and Mark Gordon are producing the adaptation, with Skydance financing development. Haddon is writing the screenplay.

"Mr. Hyde is one of my favorite literary villains, but he hasn't been given his due on the big screen for the better part of a century," Haddon tells Heat Vision. "I'm excited to be playing a part in restoring him to his proper place in the pantheon of movie monsters: at the top of the food chain."
