After several feature film adaptations throughout the years -- including the infamous 1996 movie starring Val Kilmer and Marlon Brando -- HG Wells' classic sci-fi novel "The Island of Dr. Moreau" is getting a television series adaptation from CBS scripted by "Sleepy Hollow" co-creator Phillip Iscove.

According to Deadline, the drama series -- simply titled "Moreau" -- follows disgraced London physiologist Dr. Katherine Moreau, who retreats to her own private island to conducts experiments in creating human-animal hybrids. The titular Moreau as a female is a change from the novel.

Iscove, who left the Fox drama "Sleepy Hollow" at the end of last season, joins another "Hollow" alum on the new CBS series: Mark Goffman, who departed the show after two seasons.
