With “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” slated to arrive in just over two months, promotion for the sequel has picked up steam in recent weeks. Doing his part, star Henry Cavill has been discussing his next turn as Clark Kent — and his debut as the character in 2013’s “Man of Steel.”

In an interview with Cineplex, Cavill spoke about the reaction audiences had to his Superman debut, describing it as “fairly mixed,” though he;s not heard any negative responses first hand. “Everyone I’ve spoken to enjoyed the movie,” he said. “But [not] unlike if you’re going to meet a stranger in the street, they’re not going to badmouth you to your face.”

Snyder Looks Towards “Justice League”: “Maybe There’s A Bigger Enemy To Fight”

As for whether director Zack Snyder has allowed criticism of the previous film affect the approach to the character in “Batman v Superman,” Cavill says he doesn;t think that’s the case. “There’s no intentional move, I don’t think, in ‘Batman v. Superman’ to address any issues that people had with ‘Man of Steel,'” the actor states. “It’s just a continuation of that storyline and they continue to develop that world and introduce new characters.

“[Superman’s] just wonderfully rich and one of those things, for me, that’s just enjoyable to play,” Cavill continued. “There’s so far you can go with it; if you really, really delve deep into the character, there’s so much you can do. It’s just about exploring it within the vehicles and finding what you want to do. He’s going to have some very interesting character development in this one.”

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” opens on March 25; “Justice League Part One” opens on November 17, 2017.
