Summit Entertainment has announced the addition of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung-Hun Lee to the cast of RED 2, the sequel to the hit 2010 action-comedy loosely based on the DC Comics miniseries by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner. They'll join returning stars Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren.

The sleeper hit RED -- it’s an acronym for “retired, extremely dangerous” -- centered on former CIA agents targeted for assassination because of the secrets they know. Directed by Robert Schwentke, the $60 million movie exceeded box-office expectations, grossing nearly $200 million worldwide.

The sequel, directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) from a script by RED screenwriters by Erich and Jon Hoeber, reunites the retired CIA operatives "as they use their old-school style to take on a new set of enemies all across Europe.” It's scheduled for release on Aug. 2, 2013.

Zeta-Jones will be seen this summer in Rock of Ages. Lee, meanwhile, is reprising his role as Storm Shadow in G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
