In 2004, New Yorker, Glamour and New York Times cartoonist Marisa Acocella Marchetto received potentially devastating news: She had breast cancer. In addition to going through the traditional forms of treatment, Marchetto used another method of therapy, creating autobiographical comics based on her experience.

The results were the 2006 Random House graphic novel Cancer Vixen: A True Story, which chronicled her experience with the sickness, but also balancing that with her fabulous lifestyle and impending marriage.

Deadline reports that Cate Blanchett and her Maven Pictures cohorts Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray have set an adaptation of the book up at HBO Films. Blanchett will executive produce, but might also star.
