Good news and bad news, MODOK fans. Captain America writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely very much want the classic Marvel villain to appear in their upcoming Winter Soldier sequel — but that doesn't mean it's going to happen.

"I want to put MODOK into something, but you can’t just drop a giant floating head in," Markus tells SFX Magazine. "It’s not like 'Oh, we have to go talk to this guy – there’s something I should tell you about him first …'"

According to Markus, fitting MODOK into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, let alone into a Captain America sequel, would require that the entire movie "take on that structure in order to accommodate him. I never win that fight!"

"But you will never rest," added McFeely.

For now, fans can count on a third Captain America movie that mirrors the tone of Winter Soldier, albeit with some twists.

"When we hit upon the [Ed] Brubaker run of the comic book, we all said that, with certain exceptions, that’s the tone of Cap’s modern franchise," McFeely said. "And you can imagine that with us back, with the Russos back, then if you like Winter Soldier you’ll hopefully like the third one, if we do it right!"

Captain America 3 arrives on May 6, 2016.
