The scene has played an integral part in pretty much every one of "Captain America: Civil War's" trailers to date; Team Captain America (Captain America, Falcon, Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Ant-Man) charge right at Team Iron Man (Iron Man, Black Widow, War Machine, Vision, Black Panther) on the tarmac of a German airport. The scene even has a LEGO set devoted to it.

Now, a new report from Superhero Hype reveals just how massive -- literally -- the scene actually is. According to SHH, the airport battle will be part of a 15 minute-long sequence that was filmed entirely in IMAX -- the only scene in the entire film shot in the format. The scene's also special because it was shot with the week-old, brand new IMAX/ARRI 65mm camera; this makes the sequence good practice for directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, who plan to film all of the two-part "Avengers: Infinity War" with the IMAX camera.

Joe Russo spoke with SHH about the IMAX sequence, which was shot outdoors in Atlanta in front of a "football field-sized green screen."

"We're referring to this sequence as the Splash Panel or the double panel," said co-director Joe Russo. "If you're a comic book fan you know that any epic book you would open it up, as a kid I would just go through and look at who was fighting who. I'd stand there in the store for 15 minutes until the guy told me to buy the book or get out. So this sequence is our live-action splash panel or double panel. It's a big epic sequence."

Directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo and starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Don Cheadle and more, "Captain America: Civil War" opens May 6, 2016.
