“Captain America: Civil War” Dominates Super Bowl Social Media Buzz

Though it aired shortly before the game began, the new “Captain America: Civil War” TV spot managed to pull in more traffic than every other film trailer that ran during Super Bowl 50.

According to Deadline, the “Captain America” TV spot raked in 292M interactions across FB, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram over a 24-hour period. While this doesn’t quite beat out its predecessor, “The Avengers,” RelishMix calls the numbers “‘significant’ for a super-hero franchise.”

The Coke ad — which boasted an appearance from Ant-Man and the Hulk — came in third with 10.1M. “X-Men: Apocalypse” and “Independence Day: Resurgence” also had strong showings with 8.6M and 6.3M respectively. “Deadpool,” “The Jungle Book,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows” and “Kung Fu Panda 3” also appeared in the top ten of the night.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and more, “Captain America: Civil War” opens on May 6, 2016.
