X-MEN: FIRST CLASS
Here at CBR, we have the “First Class” trailer and, boy, does it make the film look good:
Meanwhile, producer Bryan Singer talked with The Los Angeles Times Hero Complex about the film and the cast. “[I’m] excited about Jason Flemyng as Azazel, which is a really cool character. It’s like this sinister alter ego of Nightcrawler in a way, which again brings some of the things that we like about that character but at the same time has a different quality,” he said. “And I really, really like [Lucas Till as] Havok, who we’re bringing in [to the continuity] at a sort of a different time, relative to the comic book lore. It’s an extremely cool character.”
Release date: June 3rd, 2011
As our pals at Spinoff Online report, the project is back on track with a new director. “Not only is ‘Red Sonja’ set to make her big-screen return between the first and second ‘Conan’ films, but they also have Simon West (‘The Mechanic,’ ‘Con Air’) on board to direct,” they write. While Producer Avi Lerner says Amber Heard is his favorite actress for the part, she is not officially cast in the role. “Amber is the new Red Sonja … but she doesn’t know it yet!” he says. “Red Sonja” was previously going to be made by Robert Rodriguez with Rose McGowan as the title character.
Release date: TBA
According to Latino Review, the project has a writer. “I hear that screenwriter Matthew Michael Carnahan (‘Lions for Lambs,’ ‘State of Play’) is in talks to adapt Millar’s comic into a screenplay,” writes LR’s El Mayimbe. “Solid writer. Solid choice. Looking forward to see if Carnahan reworks the ending.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actors protraying Thorin and Company gathered for a press day in New Zealand. Director Peter Jackson offered his appologizes for not being there in person via a statement. “I’d love to be with you all this morning, but I’m currently under a medical form of house arrest to prevent me from overdoing it, until fully recovered from my recent operation. I’ll be jumping back into it very soon,” he said. Meanwhile, Empire has the photo which features Martin Freeman, James Nesbitt, and the other twelve actors who will venture to the Lonely Mountain:

ALL STAR SUPERMAN
Here at CBR, we have another DC Universe Animated interview with voice director Andrea Romano. Here, she discusses the cast of the upcoming “All Star Superman.” Talking about Christina Hendricks, who plays Lois in the film, she says, “Her acting instincts are so good, she has the ability to adjust to acting to a microphone as opposed to camera very quickly. I always give people positive feedback, but I was telling her ‘terrific job’ and you’ll see the evidence when you see the piece. This is a very unusual, different story between Lois and Superman, and she captured everything we were looking for and then some.”
Release date: February 22nd, 2011
It appears Lex Luthor — in the form of Michael Rosenbaum — will not return to the show. A source tells Entertainment Weekly, “He has put the show behind him and moved on.” While the article notes there is still time for the actor to come on board for the final episodes, it’s looking pretty much shut. This could be a ruse to protect the surprise of his return, but that’s looking rather unlikely. Meanwhile, Kryptonsite has the synopsis for the upcoming episode, “Scion.”
