Today, most viewers know Bryan Cranston as a scary dude. After his Emmy Award-winning performance as Walter White in "Breaking Bad," he played a series of gruff renegades, with roles ranging from the villainous ("Total Recall") to the more heroic ("Godzilla"). Many of his recent appearances have been in sci-fi movies, and he seems to love playing villains. Well, before he was the go-to anti-hero, Cranston played one of the most bumbling dads in TV history on "Malcolm in the Middle." Even though Cranston's career looks very different today, he has entertained the idea of returning to the role that first made him famous.

In a Reddit AMA (via Uproxx) to promote the new movie "Why Him?", a fan asked Cranston when he would be doing a "Malcolm in the Middle" movie. Cranston did not shoot the idea down, instead saying, "There has been some conversation about that... I guess we have to gauge the temperament of the fans to see if its something they want. But maybe. It would be fun to play with all those people again."

He went on to add, "It would be like if you (JF) did a Freaks and Geeks movie" referring to his co-star, James Franco returning to one of his earliest roles in Judd Apatow's short lived sitcom. Franco seemed game, saying, "Maybe for Freaks and Geeks it could be the 20 year high school reunion! I don’t know if my character would go to the reunion though. Maybe he just never left town."
