The Giver star Brenton Thwaites has landed the coveted role opposite Johnny Depp in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he's in final negotiations to play a British soldier named Henry, a part similar to that of Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner in the first three Pirates films.

Directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki), the franchise's fifth installment will see Geoffrey Rush reprise his role as Barbosa. Ian McShane and Stephen Graham are also expected to return, with possible cameos by Orlando and Kieth Richards.

Javier Bardem is in final talks to play the film's villain, a ghost pirate who seeks revenge against Captain Jack Sparrow for the murder of his brother.

Production is scheduled to begin in January in Australia for a July 2017 release.
