“All Bad things must come to an end.”
That’s the promise of the new poster and TV spot AMC just released for Breaking Bad, which kicks off its final run of eight episodes on Aug. 11. Both feature the image of green smoke — a different shade than the sweet, sweet “blue stuff” that’s hooked fans over the past five seasons.
Does the tagline speak to the ending of Breaking Bad as a series, or to the death of Walter White and his cancer-inspired crime spree? Details on the ending of the Emmy-winning drama remain closely guarded, although series creator Vince Gilligan recently dropped some hints about what to expect out of the next eight episodes.
“In my mind, the ending is a victory for Walt,” Gilligan told Vulture in an interview last month. “You might see the episode and say, ‘What the fuck was he talking about?’ But it’s a somewhat happy ending, in my estimation.”
