Viz Media will premiere "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" on Naruto's birthday -- that's Oct. 10 -- at New York Comic Con. The announcement was made Thursday at Anime Expo in Los Angeles.

No other details have been released. However, the screening coincides with appearances by "Naruto" creator Masashi Kishimoto at the convention and the related New York Super Week, his first ever outside of Japan.

Opening Aug. 7 in Japan, "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" centers on Naruto’s son Boruto, introduced last fall in the final chapter of the manga and in “The Last: Naruto the Movie,” who rejects his father even has he seeks to surpass his accomplishments. The film was written by Kishimoto, who also served as character designer and chief production supervisor.

No dates have been announced for the North American theatrical release.
