Boomerang has purchased 500 "Peanuts" animated shorts from FranceTV Distribution in a deal that will mark the first time the series is broadcast in English.

Produced by Normaal Animation Studios for French public broadcaster France Télévisions, the 90-second shorts are direct adaptations of Charles M. Schulz's beloved comic strips. They premiered on French TV in November 2014, and now air in more than 20 territories around the world.

According to Variety, the shorts will air on Turner Broadcasting's recently retooled Boomerang, with a promotional crossover on Cartoon Network and on the Cartoon Network app.

The rollout is timed to coincide with the premiere next month of "The Peanuts Movie."
