The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the Power Rangers are morphin' into comic book heroes courtesy of BOOM! Studios. The publisher has announced that they have partnered with Saban Brands and will begin publishing comics set squarely in the original "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" era.

The new "Rangers" initiative will kick off at this year's Comic-Con International in San Diego where BOOM! will debut a set of six one-pagers exclusive to the show. Fans wishing to get on board with the Rangers' return can visit BOOM! Studios' booth, #2229. The six, double-sided, one-page stories will be available for sale in blind bag packaging.

While there have been many iterations of the "Power Rangers" franchise since it's debut in 1993, BOOM! has specified that their series will feature the heroes as depicted in the first season of the popular show.

"We have big, big plans that will build on the core universe of 'Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers,'" said BOOM! Studios editor-in-chief Matt Gagnon. "We can't give too much away just yet, but the story we're kicking off with is vast in scope. Fans of BOOM! know we treat the existing properties we collaborate on with a focus on authenticity and quality. That's the same sensibility we're applying here." BOOM! also publishes comics based on "Sleepy Hollow," "Escape From New York," "Big Trouble In Little China," "Sons of Anarchy," "Adventure Time" and more.

While BOOM! has remained mum about what their new series will entail, they have revealed that each one of the six one-page comics will feature a one-page comic from "Transformers: Witchblade" writer Mairghread Scott and "Translucid" artist Daniel Bayliss on one side and a pin-up from "RoboCop" artist Goni Montes on the other.
