Even after George Lucas nearly ruined him revealed his backstory in the Star Wars prequels, Boba Fett retains a mystique that proves irresistible to fans -- and fan-filmmakers. It was only a couple of months ago that the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy was viewed through the lens of a spaghetti Western in "The Twelve Parsec Stare," and now he's back as the star of another, more traditional short.

And director Eric Demeusy's "Star Wars: The New Republic Anthology" is short: At just one minute and 25 seconds, it's more like a trailer for a fan film -- please let it be a trailer for a fan film! -- but it's pretty great, nonetheless.

Freeing himself from the Great Pit of Carkoon after 30 years, Boba Fett "finds himself aiding the rise of the Rebellion's plan for a New Republic." Alas, we're only treated to the first part, leaving us longing to see the rest. Watch the short and the behind-the-scenes video below.
