The Joker may lead Sony's Bloodshot film.

According to Deadline, Suicide Squad star Jared Leto is currently in talks to join Sony's forthcoming Bloodshot adaption, which is based on the Valiant Entertainment comic of the same name. Leto would be the second person to join the project since Sony acquired the rights back in 2012; should Leto sign onto the project, he'll join director Dave Wilson, who boarded the film earlier this year.

Leto is eyeing the role of the role of Angelo Mortalli, aka Bloodshot. Created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin, and Bob Layton, the character made his debut in Eternal Warrior #4. Thanks to the nanites in his body, Bloodshot heals extraordinarily fast, can shapeshift at will and has the ability to hack into computers using only the power of the tiny computers in his bloodstream. Though his mind has been wiped numerous times, Bloodshot also boasts an extreme aptitude for hand-to-hand combat and, as a former soldier, is well-versed in all manner of weapons-training.

This would be the second live-action development for the character, as Bloodshot is also a part of Valiant's Ninjak vs the Valiant Universe web series, which is unrelated to the planned film. That version of the character is currently played by Jason David Frank, Power Rangers' Green Ranger.

Leto is, of course, coming off of DC's Suicide Squad, where he played the Joker. It's currently unknown when he'll next reprise that role, although there is a rumored Harley Quinn vs Joker spin-off being developed.

The Bloodshot film will be produced in part by Sony Pictures and Original Film. As of right now, no release date has been announced.
