Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson have announced that “Blade Runner 2” — the follow up to Ridley Scott’s original 1982 film — will debut on January 12, 2018, according to Deadline.
Warner Bros. will distribute the film in North America, while Sony Pictures Releasing International will handle those duties overseas.
“Prisoners” director Denis Villeneuve will helm the film, which takes place years after the events of the first “Blade Runner” film. Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Rick Deckard, joined by Ryan Gosling. The screenplay was penned by “Blade Runner” co-writer Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, based on an idea by Scott and Fancher.
Roger Deakins will serve as cinematographer, while Scott will executive produce.
