According to The Hollywood Reporter, the only teasers donning the Marvel logo to garner more views were Thor: Ragnarok (136 million) and the second trailer for Captain America: Civil War, which earned 94 million. Audiences simply couldn't get enough Wakanda, as the teaser generated 19 million views from those watching the Warriors/Cavaliers exhibition before rapidly going viral across various social media platforms for the rest of its robust numbers. The movie was particularly popular on Twitter, generating a massive 349,000 mentions within the same 24-hour time span.

Marvel has to be pleased with the character's showing of widespread appeal, as Black Panther marks the studio's latest attempt at turning a lesser known property into a fully-budgeted blockbuster. Ant-ManGuardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange all similarly exploded from the depths of obscurity to successful debuts riding Marvel Studio's vibrant red banner, meaning Black Panther is also primed for a hefty haul at the box office.
