Winston Duke has reportedly landed a bigger payday and an expanded role as M'Baku in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The news about Duke was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, which claimed the actor "negotiated a hefty raise for his return to Black Panther due to what is being described as an expanded role in the Panther mythos." However, "What that expansion looks like is unclear."

Duke made his debut as a variation of M'Baku, the leader of the Jabari tribe, in 2018's Black Panther. In the film, King T'Challa defeated M'Baku during a challenge for the Wakandan throne, but T'Challa convinced M'Baku to yield rather than fight to the death. Following Killmonger's coup, M'Baku and the Jabari aligned themselves with T'Challa against Killmonger and his followers. Duke later reprised the role of M'Baku in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

The new information about Duke's expanded role in the Black Panther sequel also comes just days after it was confirmed Shuri actor Letitia Wright had returned to set and filming of Wakanda Forever had resumed. A representative for the actor confirmed last week, "Filming resumed this month as planned and we're on schedule."

Roughly five months ago, Wright sustained minor injuries while performing a stunt in Boston in the midst of filming scenes at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Wright's co-star Angela Bassett updated fans on her recovery a month later, saying at the time, "She had a little bit of a fall, but it's not too bad. You know, anything like that will shake you up, but she's just a little, slight, little petite thing. But she is fine and ready to go." However, it was later confirmed Wright incurred a fractured shoulder and a concussion during the incident.

In true Marvel fashion, details about the plot of Wakanda Forever have been kept under wraps. Even so, it was recently reported the sequel will see Dora Milaje warrior Okoye having "a same-sex relationship with another Dora Milaje in the film" and that Michael B. Jordan could reprise his role as Erik Killmonger in the sequel. While Disney has yet to comment on Okoye's rumored love interest, and no other information has been revealed, a report from ScreenGeek suggested Killmonger will return in the Ancestral Plane and serve as a mentor to a "young hero."

Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters Nov. 11.
