Hook star Dante Basco is already showing the online world how he feels about his niece and goddaughter, Ella Jay Basco, being cast as Cassandra Cain in Birds of Prey.

Basco shared a fierce image of the two together, with the message, "I want to introduce you to my niece & goddaughter @EllaJayBasco1, but I’m sure you’ll get know her as #CassandraCain... (#batgirl is a #basco)."

Dante is, of course, famous for his breakout role as Rufio, one of the Lost Boys in Steven Spielberg's 1991 take on the Peter Pan mythos. He's clearly proud of Ella for getting cast as Batgirl, although these days Cassandra is going by the new moniker of Orphan. It is believed she will be a driving factor in what unites the vigilante squad of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) to take on the villainous Black Mask, set to be played by Ewan McGregor.

Ella is still a relative newcomer, having appeared in single episodes of shows such as Grey's Anatomy and Veep, making this a potentially huge breakout role for the young actress. Her uncle has also been part of the DC Universe too, voicing the Karate Kid in 2014's JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time, which makes the Basco legacy so far quite superheroic.

Directed by Cathy Yan from a script by Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Margot Robbie, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Rosie Perez. It is scheduled to be released on Feb. 7, 2020.
