While speaking with CBR News at PaleyFest 2014, “Arrow” and “The Flash” executive producer Greg Berlanti confirmed that the rumored “Supergirl” television series is indeed in development, but it’s currently at very early stages, with Berlanti stating he was “not allowed” to discuss any details about the project.
“We’re just starting to work on it,” Berlanti told CBR News. “We haven’t gone to the networks yet, so. I’ll be happy, very excited to talk about it once we know where its home will be and that kind of stuff, but not at this moment. ”
Reports of a “Supergirl” television series began circulating at the beginning of September, with many industry outlets reporting that Berlanti would be executive producing the project alongside Ali Adler. The duo previously worked together on the series “No Ordinary Family.” DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns is also expected to have a role. Early reports further stated that the series was currently being shopped to networks, and was not expected to end up at The CW. However, Berlanti’s comments to CBR clearly indicate that the project has not yet been pitched, meaning that The CW — or any other network — remains a possibility.
