Marvel Comics' Doctor Strange deals with situations that would "drive someone mad" on the regular, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that he didn't even bat an eye when he learned "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch would play him in a movie in an another universe.

In Christopher Hastings and Gurihiru's "Gwenpool" #3, the Sorcerer Supreme himself encounters Gwen "Gwenpool" Poole, an alternate world version of Gwen Stacy who dons an outfit similar to Deadpol's. As Strange helps her locate her home reality -- which is much like our own superhero-free world -- he finds out Cumberbatch has been cast to play him.

"Fascinating. The people and events of our world leave... footprints in yours. Little recordings, retellings," he muses. Then, upon catching a glimpse of a movie marquee, he says, "Benedict Cumberbatch, eh? Sure, I could see that."

It may not be a ringing endorsement, but it seems the Doctor Strange of the Main Marvel Universe has no objections to Cumberbatch playing him on film.

Hastings and Gurihiru's "Gwenpool" #3 is now on sale.
