As recently released Netflix series "Bloodline" enjoys a wave of positive buzz, one of its lead actors has been attached to a very high-profile upcoming film: Deadline published an unconfirmed report Wednesday that Ben Mendelsohn is "circling" a lead role in "Rogue One," the upcoming "Star Wars" standalone spinoff film to be directed by Garth Edwards of "Godzilla" fame.

There's no further details on the nature of Mendelsohn's potential role. Thus far, the only official casting in the film is Felicity Jones, confirmed earlier this month as one of the film's leads.

Beyond his role as Danny Rayburn in "Bloodline," Mendelsohn also appeared as John Daggett in 2012's "The Dark Knight Rises," along with recent roles in "Exodus: Gods and Kings" and "Black Sea." "Rogue One," the first of multiple planned "Star Wars" standalone films, has a scheduled release date of Dec. 16, 2016.
