Ben Affleck isn't content directing Oscar-winning films and playing Batman. According to Deadline, the director Argo and The Town will helm the pilot of a new Fox television series.

Created by Glenn Gordon Caron (Medium), The Middle Man is set in 1960s Boston, and "tells the story of Rudy MacAteer, an FBI agent charged with taking down the Italian mafia, and his confidential informant, Irish-American gangster Mickey Flood. MacAteer’s efforts inadvertently give rise to the Irish mob, as he finds himself bending the laws he is governed by."

Caron wrote the pilot based on a story by Michael Yebba (Ordinary Man) and Emilio Mauro (God Only Knows), who will act as executive producers. Casting is expected to begin very quickly now that Affleck is on board to direct. Filming and production should kick off early next year.
